Idea Star Singer 2007 - My views

Ever since Asianet has started idea star singer 2007 controversies also started coming from different points.About the genuine reality of this so called reality shows, the "hidden agenda" of declaring one of the contestants as a winner, about the SMS, etc are few of them. However asianet has survived all these allegations and the show is going as strong as before.

Now they are stretching this like a mega serial. A show started with the name "Idea star singer 2007". Now at the second month of 2008, the show has only reached its quarter final round. I do not think even asianet would have thought this becomes a such a big success.

I have noticed few things in the so called reality show ISS 2007. Let me make it clear of my mind. I do not belive that there is/was a hidden agenda to select the one of the contestants as the winner.

My observatios:

1. Look at Ranjini.. How good she is to predict the scores.? Yesterday(13th Feb 2008) she predicted all the three scores correctly. Is she reading the scores from the pre-decided marks and make our judges to agree!!

2. Next is the celebrity guest. He/she gives marks out of 10 for stage performance for song item and out of 30 for a performance item. I was seeing one episode where Arun Gopan was singing “Neelappeeli kavadiyenthi” in the devotional songs item in the 11 round. The celebrity guest was Sukumari, one of the greatest actress in South India. She commented to Arun Gopan saying, you should be more active on the stage and should not be an “Urakkam thoongi”. I belive it was a genuine comment from Sukumari. Finally she gave 7 out of 10 for the performance. Now in the same episode another performer who did well, was very active and lively. The same judge gave 7 out of 10. So what is the
purpose of this celebrity judge?

3. Yesterday again performance of Durga and Amrutha. Listen to the comments by the judges. Durga did not perform well according to judges and Amrutha did well… But the difference in marks is 4. Amrutha got 77 and Durga got 73. Listening to the comments any Tom Dick and Harry can say that the difference should not be 4. If you want give marks to Durga, give 73 to her. But measuring the same scale Amrutha should get at least 83. (Remember bothe scores were predicted by our “beloved” Ranjini.)

4. Now a question about the Dress of the judges as well as Ranjini. They change the dresses from episode to episode. One can argue that each episode is shooted on different days. Is that is correct there will be shooting on 5 days per week. The judges did not have any other jobs in the last 7-8 months. Usually a celebrity guest is there for one week. That means these busy actors and actresses are with asianet for one whole week. Eventhogh Sukumari changed her Saree, her rings bangles and chain(mala) remains the same in all episodes. Vani Jayaram in 11th round sang two songs so far. When she was talking about the both songs, she was wearing same dress. Ablue colores churidar. How come only judges change their dresses.
It was planned act by asianet to provide an “extra evidence” to show it is a reality show.

Whatever the allegations are, we could see wonderful performance from many participants, Like Vani Jayaram, Amrutha, Najim, Thushar etc etc. They are performing really well and they have improved a lot. Thanks to Sharth, MGS and Didi for correcting their mistakes and improve their singing ability. These youngsters are boons to us. All the best for these youngsters, and thanks to the judges.

Also the wonderful performance by the musicians, who play the wonderful background music for these conteststsns. They are doing a wonderful job. Cheers to them.
